Mongolia is home to the world's largest salmonid, the Taimen. Reaching weights of 200 pounds, and lengths of 60 inches, Taimen are one of the world's best freshwater fish. With a primary diet of mice, small ducks, and prairie dogs, Taimen attack with a ferocity which is unsurpassed in the freshwater world of angling! Anything BIG and UGLY! The sight of a 50-inch Taimen clearing the water is a spectacle to behold!
This Mongolia camp has been in operation since 1996 and is the premier outfitter for Taimen. Guests stay in yurts and access the river by jet boat from a fixed, Alaskan-style camp with hot showers, professionally prepared meals, and on-site masseuses. The camps are comfortable and professionally staffed by American guides, Mongolian staff, and translators.
